BMP test protocol step by step: from sample to methane yield curve
The full path of a batch test: sample preparation, inoculum, filling, incubation, gas measurement, termination and calculations. With a checklist and typical mistakes.
BMP (biochemical methane potential) is the amount of methane that can be obtained from a unit of organic mass of a substrate in a batch test. We compile the results of many publications for each substrate, calculate a weighted mean and show all the curves at once.

BMP is the maximum amount of methane that can be obtained from a unit of a substrate's organic matter in an anaerobic batch test. We explain what it is used for and what it does not tell you.
